The TomTom GO 740 portable navigator offers you peace of mind when you're traveling with its powerful, yet easy-to-use features. You can use its 4.3" widescreen touch display to access detailed maps of the U.S. and Canada, and to explore over 5 million points of interest. The text-to-speech voice prompts announce actual road names at turns, giving you more helpful information when driving through unfamiliar areas.  The 740 has traffic in the box as well

Talk hands-free with Bluetooth

The GO 740 features built-in Bluetooth wireless technology so you can use your compatible phone on the road. The navigator will handle most of your phone's functions so you can converse hands-free. You can even send the phone's audio over your car's stereo system with the GO 740's built-in FM transmitter.

IQ Routes get you there faster

TomTom's IQ Routes feature uses historic traffic flow data based on travel speeds from other TomTom users in the area, so it can find the fastest route to your destination at any given time of day. It'll guide you to back roads with lower speed limits where traffic's moving, instead of sending you to a major highway that's clogged at rush hour, depending on your preferences and the available data.

For further help getting around traffic, you can add an FM-TMC traffic receiver for up-to-the-minute traffic updates. The GO 740 also works with TomTom Traffic, an optional service which requires a compatible Bluetooth phone with GPRS. Subscription rates apply for traffic services, which are available in most metropolitan areas.

Customizable maps

TomTom's MapShare software lets you fix map inaccuracies on the spot, instead of waiting for the next update. You can edit speed limits, points of interest, street names and directions, and more right on your navigator. You can also report the error directly to TomTom online and choose to share the fix with other TomTom users. TomTom verifies all changes so you can import edits made by others to your navigator. Plan trips with TomTom's free HOME software suite.

More convenient features

The GO 740 indicates the correct lane for upcoming maneuvers with arrows at the bottom of the screen, reducing the chances of missed turns. Speech address input allows you to input the city, street name, and street address by speaking to the machine and selecting from the options given, rather than typing everything out, saving you time and hassle. You can also use the GO 740 to play music from your Secure Digital™ cards, and send the tunes through your car stereo via the FM transmitter.
